The RM 052 Tourbillon Skull features a skeletonised tonneau‑shaped case crafted from lightweight yet robust materials, ensuring durability and presence on the wrist. At the heart of the dial sits a grade 5 titanium skull, which forms an integral part of the movement’s architecture rather than serving as a mere decoration. The skull motif symbolises both the philosophical concept of vanitas and Richard Mille’s spirit of nonconformity and innovation. The upper and lower jaws of the skull hold the ruby of the tourbillon cage, and the back of the skull serves as the movement’s central bridge, highlighting the deep integration of aesthetic and mechanical elements. Four titanium bridges inspired by crossed bones connect the movement to the case, creating a striking visual reminiscent of pirate iconography while also ensuring structural strength and performance. The manual winding Calibre RM052 tourbillon movement powers hours and minutes, offering refined mechanical execution and impressive finishing, including hand‑polished chamfers and skeletonisation.
